Z3's built after Jan 97 have Torx bolt/holding lugs welded on each frame riser.
96 and 97 Z3's built before Jan 97 should have hold down lugs welded on.
These are supplied with the bar. In both cases 98 and newer upper trim planes
(roll bar insert panels) must be used because they include an access window for
tightening the hold down bolts.

1. Remove the 4 screws that hold the storage compartment lid on. Remove lid. |

2.Remove the 10 screws in the storage compartment insert. Location:2 front screws, 6 rear screws, and 2 inside. Remove storage tray liner. |

3. Remove storage compartment housing by unscrewing the 3 screws in the back and the 2 screws inside the compartment. |

4.Remove the upper trim pane by taking out 3 screws. Remove the seat belt from the seat and slip pane off. |

5. Slip pane on and mark hold down lugs so bolts are accessible thru window. Remove pane. |

6.Drill 2-3/8" holes and weld lug on. This is an easy task that can be done by a welder or a good body shop. |
